It’s easy to relax at Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof!
Grand Hotel Reylof comprises a new and old part. The old part is a typical 18th century city hotel (town house), dating back to 1724, constructed in Louis XIV style. In the 20th century the building was restored and renovated on different occasions. Since 1990, the city hotel and its coach house are listed as monuments.
The hotel interior is in prestigious empire style, including features such as an impressive spiral staircase and various empire mantle pieces. Baron Olivier de Reylof (1684-1742) was the original owner, a Ghentian merchant's son, and poet highly versed in Latin poetry.
The salons, the foyers, the lobby and living room have been named after historical figures from Ghent, like Literature Nobel prize winner Maurice Maeterlinck, and painters Valerius De Saedeleer, and Emile Claus. The foyer on the first floor was named after Lieven Bauwens, founder of the mechanical textile industry in Ghent.

Sandton Hotel Grand Reylof is proud to be one of Ghent’s greenest hotels.
On April 29 2013 the Bond Beter Leefmilieu en Toerisme Vlaanderen awarded Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof the socalled ‘Green Key’. This international label is a commendation for extra efforts made by businesses to save on water and energy consumption. Green Key holders must adhere to a range of energy, water and mobility criteria, have an ambitious environmental policy, sustainablity-minded employees, waste disposal prevention, and conscientious use of water and energy. For more information: www.groenesleutel.be.
At Sandton Hotel Grand Reylof we constantly monitor energy and water consumption, and do the utmost to operate as ‘green’ as possible. As one of the few hotels in Belgium, we installed a micro cogeneration system, which allows us to simultaneously produce our own energy and use the system’s generated heat to warm the hotel water. Moreover, we have a Belgian first, namely the storage of heat in buffers filled with paraffine (wax). These only occupy one-fourth of the volume of water, and capture the heat four times better, which in turn can be utilised for 100%.
Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof has also received the BREAAM certification (Building Research Establishment).
