Surrounding area

The municipality of Loenen is situated in beautiful countryside. In this vast area of peat meadows and small lakes, the villages have kept their individual character.

Three village centres have been designated protected village views. The municipality has many cultural-historical elements such as churches, mills and farms.

Very characteristic of the area are the country estates and the accompanying “theekoepels” [literally; tea domes].

There are more than 200 monuments to be admired. This is best done by bike, on foot or by boat.

Local businesses and hospitality venues, most of which most are beautifully situated near the water, complete your visit to Vreeland.
