Sandton Hotels is aware of the fact that some groups in society are struggling and wants to contribute actively to improve their living conditions by collaboration with the Medical Knowledge Institute (MKI). As a medium–sized organization, we would like to take our responsibility.
The MKI is an international non–profit, Netherlands–based health organization. The MKI aims at training and the provision of information with the belief that health care is a human right. Therefore, the MKI has developed different programs, which are mostly implemented in developing countries. The objective is to improve the living conditions of the population, by giving medical–related training and workshops to local practitioners and or health care workers and the local population. For this purpose, medical experts from all over the world are mobilized. At the moment, most of projects are implemented in South Africa.
A link to our hotel chain is that the name 'Sandton' has been derived from the major business district of the same name in Johannesburg (South Africa).
To support this goal, we sell in all the Sandton Hotels, and on our website exclusive hand made Yoell© jewelry, which HIV–infected women in South Africa make. With the money that the women earn, they can be/become economically independent and support their own family. Consequently, they get a place back in society and get, if necessary, access to health care.
Sandton Hotels also sells packages of greeting cards with images of photographs ‘the photographer of the stars', Patricia Steur has made. Each package contains 12 greeting cards with no text. Furthermore, Sandton Hotels supplies in all possible manners accommodation and services to all those connected to the MKI.
