Philips factory,
Sandton Hotel Eindhoven City Centre
Right in the heart of Eindhoven stands the first and oldest Philips factory (1891), a three-minute drive from Sandton Hotel Eindhoven City Centre. Here, you can see how light bulbs were made over a century ago. A visit to this factory is, first and foremost, a trip back in time. You will visit the factory floor, most of which is still operational, complete with central drive shaft for the machines. In this room, you will taste the atmosphere of 19th century factory life and see a demonstration of how light bulbs were made at that time. It is probably the only place in the world where visitors can still see how people worked in this industry which, at the time, was very modern. You will be guided around the factory by a former Philips employee.
