De Biesbosch,
Sandton Hotel Eindhoven City Centre
De Biesbosch comprises the Brabant, Sliedrecht and Dordrecht Biesbosch. At Biesbosch national park, you will find an area of unspoiled nature, rich in flora and fauna. In spring, Biesbosch is a haven of tranquil beauty. Enjoy the water birds and the dozens of songbirds at Biesbosch who regularly make their presence known. Early spring is the best time to see stately pairs of herons perched side by side on their nests. You might suddenly find yourself face to face with a beaver, or see a vole scampering past. Along stretches of open water, you will see the new reed growth emerging in dense clumps above the dry stalks of the previous year. The longest footpath in the Brabant Biesbosch is on De Deeneplaat. The eastern section comprises a mud flat that is still being maintained, and the western section is made up of old mud flats that have evolved into a tidal willow forest. Some good starting points for exploring the Biesbosch are the Biesbosch Information Centre (70.5 km; 49 minutes’ drive from Sandton Hotel Eindhoven City Centre) and the Biesbosch museum (89.3 km; 58 minutes' drive from Sandton Hotel Eindhoven City Centre. Here, you can also find information about the national park (including leaflets) and enquire about recreational facilities.
