Vondelpark, Sandton Hotel De Filosoof
Amsterdam’s most famous and heavily-visited park, the Vondelpark, borders the gardens of Sandton Hotel De Filosoof. The park was created in 1864 and designed in the English landscape style. As well as Amsterdammers, the park is very popular with Dutch and foreign tourists. The Vondelpark has held listed status since 1996. In the summer months, theatre performances and concerts are held in the Open Air Theatre and, on the Queen’s Birthday, the park plays host to a children’s street market.
