Dutch Resistance Museum,
Sandton Hotel De Filosoof
The Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam (Dutch Resistance Museum) is located in the Plancius building, opposite the main entrance to the Artis zoo, and is within walking distance of Sandton Hotel De Filosoof. An interior of reconstructed streets, authentic objects, photos and documents, film and audio clips tells the story of people during the war years of 1940-1945. You will see, hear and read personal stories which convey a picture of the problems encountered by the population during that period. The museum also has a section covering Dutch India, where there was widespread resistance against the Japanese. The Dutch Resistance Museum also has changing exhibitions. If you would like to know how ordinary people handled the problems that confronted them in a time of scarcity and repression, you can find out at the Dutch Resistance Museum.
