Zoo Artis, Sandton Hotel De Filosoof
Dierentuin Artis (Artis Zoo) is the oldest and one of the best zoos in the Netherlands. This fabulous experience is within walking distance of Sandton Hotel De Filosoof. As well as all kinds of mammals, you will find aviaries with magnificent birds, an insect house with various insects and spiders, a butterfly house with brightly-coloured butterflies, an ocean aquarium with colourful (tropical) fish, a zoological museum, a geological museum, a Planetarium where you can take a trip through the universe, gardens and greenhouses with tropical plants and trees or special themes, such as the Japanese garden, and a children’s farm with special animals, such as crested ducks and miniature donkeys. If you would like to spend a relaxing day away from the bustle of the big city, Artis Zoo is the place to go. In the summer months, Artis Zoo is open until 10 p.m. every Saturday evening.
