Hinterglemm is located in the Salzburgerland area, approximately 980 kilometres from Utrecht.
By car
From the Netherlands the route to Hinterglemm runs via Munich; the biggest part of the journey is spent on the A3. From Munich the directions are as follows:
- Take the Munich - Salzburg motorway (A8) to the Siegsdorf exit
- From there take the Inzell direction
- Continue to the Lofer exit; maintain this direction
- At the Steinpas you will cross the border into Austria; from here keep heading for Lofer
- At Lofer take the exit to Saalfelden and then drive in the direction of Zell am See
- In Maishofen take the exit to Saalbach-Hinterglemm
- After driving through the valley for 14 km you will reach Hinterglemm, where you will drive through the Dorftunnel.
- Follow the road for approximately a further 1500 m, after which you will see the Hochalmbahn on your right.
- After a further 200 m take the exit on your right. You will be driving straight to the Sandton Residenz Hochalm and reach it after 100 m.
By plane
Hinterglemm is easily accessible from the Salzburg and Munich airports. The Salzburg airport is the closest; approximately 70 km from Hinterglemm. The distance to Munich is around 200 km.
From Salzburg there are a number of scheduled bus services to Hinterglemm each day, which will take you to Sandton Hochalm. The price for this service is € 37.= one way and € 69.= return. For more information about this scheduled service please visit the Saalbach-Hinterglemm website.
Alternatively you can rent a car at the airport. The car rental service is extremely efficient and is located right next to the passenger terminal. The Munich airport is easily accessible from Schiphol throughout the year, with several flights per day. From Munich there is also a scheduled bus service to and from Hinterglemm.
