Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof continuously monitors the consumption of water, gas and electricity. Measuring is knowing. This provides the management with a better control of the consumption and assists in reducing it.
Sustainable Applications
The hotel is equipped with a micro cogeneration plant. The cogeneration plant simultaneously produces heat and electricity. This technology has seen a major evolution in recent times. It is compared to an electrical generator with a gas motor producing electricity with all of the available heat collected and recuperated.
The heat produced by the cogeneration plant must be stored. Classical methods for storing heat are buffer tanks filled with water. An innovative concept was selected for Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof, namely, the storage of heat in melting buffers filled with paraffine or candle-grease. These offer a number of significant advantages. Paraffine buffers only take up a quarter of the space normally required for water reservoirs, they retain heat four times more efficiently than water. Stored heat can be utilised for the full 100%. Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof is the first location in Belgium storing such power in PCM buffers. Again, it is an expression of its full commitmitment to its innovative goals.
In short, at Sandton Grand Hotel Reylof we have taken all the necessary steps to consume less, to more efficiently produce and to optimally utilise all the available energy.
